Race Facts
Dirt track racing is a type of auto racing performed on oval tracks. It began in the United States before World War I and became widespread during the 1920s and 30s. Two different types of racecars predominated—open wheel racers in the Northeast and West and stock cars in the South. While open wheel racecars are purpose-built racing vehicles, stock cars can be either purpose-built racecars or street vehicles that have been modified to varying degrees.
Dirt track racing is the single most common form of auto racing in the United States. There are hundreds of local and regional racetracks throughout the nation: some estimates range as high as 1500. The sport is popular in Australia and Canada also. Many of the cars may also race on asphalt short tracks during the racing season.

North America Dirt Tracks
Nearly all tracks are oval and less than 1 mile in length with most being ½ mile or less. The most common increments in the U.S. are 1/2 mile, 3/8 mile, 1/3 mile), 1/4 mile, and 1/8 mile. With the longer tracks, the racecars achieve higher speeds and the interval between cars increases. This decreases the chance of crashes but increases the damage and chance of injury when cars do crash.
The track surface may be composed of any soil, but most racers prefer a track with a clay base. The track operators usually try to keep the surface tacky and may sprinkle water on it if it begins to dry. Some operators build flat ovals, but many are highly banked.

Dirt Late Model
Today’s current dirt super late models feature steel constructed tube frame chassis with aluminum bodies that give them a sleek aerodynamic appearance of a stock appearing race car but there is nothing stock about these 2300 pound machines. The cars are powered by an 800 horsepower motor than can turn in excess of 9,000 RPMs. The engines are based on V-8 Chevrolet, Ford and MOPAR power plants.
Most racing series and special events offer motor options with the use of weight breaks to create an even playing field.

World Racing Group
World Racing Group has quickly become the world leader in the dirt track racing industry, operating under one of it’s banners “DIRTcar”. Estimated by CNN to be a $1 billion industry, dirt track racing is “the biggest sport you’ve never heard of.” WRG is working to change that.
There are approximately 1,000 race tracks in the United States, and more than 800 of them are dirt tracks. Industry experts estimate that over 52 million tickets a year are sold at dirt track events, more than NASCAR, NFL, NBA and NHL combined. Every weekend over 80,000 Americans compete at dirt tracks spread across all corners of the United States.
Since its inception, World Racing Group (WRG) has methodically acquired the most meaningful assets in the industry in order to raise the profile of dirt track racing by leveraging the critical mass that consolidation provides. As the company enters the 2009 season it does so as the definitive sanctioning body for dirt track racing, what NASCAR is to paved racing and what the NHRA is to drag racing, WRG is to dirt track racing.
WRG owns and operates the largest sanctioning body for local and regional dirt track racing in North America. DIRTcar Racing is the combination of two regional enterprises acquired by WRG, United Midwestern Promoters and DIRT Motorsports, founded in 1984 and 1976 respectively. In keeping with its philosophy of consolidating a fragmented industry and raising the profile of the sport, the new brand was launched in 2007 and now encompasses over 4,900 races at 127 tracks with more than $15 million in total prize purse payout.

Race Team

Company Bio

U.S.A. 'Proud American"....Kevin Patrick Racing a Mid-West Regional Team traces his interest in racing back to his time spent with his father in the stands watching many famed drivers throughout the United States. "I have always enjoyed the time spent with my father and still do," recalls Kevin. For many years I talked about having a race team and I thought I would eventually own, race, and enjoy all aspects of a dirt late model team.
In 1999, we started Kevin Patrick Racing, running in a NASCAR weekly racing series in Alaska. In 2001 our commitment grew to a Asphalt Super Late Model Team were we finished third in points at the North Star Speedway. In 2002 Kevin moved the team to Gentry, Arkansas. Kevin then spent the next two years transitioning from an asphalt racing operation to a dirt late model team. He also built a 1600 sq. ft. shop and started to acquire equipment, recruit drivers and team members for the new venture. In 2005 we then started to compete in a full time level with the Show-Me Racin Series. From within the team Kevin has put in drivers with relatively no late model experience and produced good results.

In 2010 we plan to move into top level racing, add a "driver development program" for young and upcoming drivers. Create a larger foot print in key market areas as a mid-west regional team. Increase market share, sales and customer loyalty through a multi-layered motorsports marketing program that will encompass: Branding strategies, Distribution strategies, and Regional and Local promotions.

With this experience of management aptitude acquired over the years. I truly believe this will give me the management, client, customer relation expertise for running this race team.

KPR and the entire team continue to come up with ways to innovate and outpace the competition. We keep on achieving good results, and the reason for that is no secret – “Race Commitment”. We might not be the biggest of all, but the way we work and the way we succeed means that we have good reason to claim we're the best. Your company can join a team with its own special character, and we would be very glad to have you with us. As long as we keep getting bigger and better, we can only feel good about the future.
